Junior Chamber International (JCI) is one of the biggest worldwide non-political and non-sectarian youth service organizations. It is an international community of citizens between the ages of 18 to 40 with the aim and purpose of creating positive change in the world. The organization believes that these changes must result from one taking "collective action to improve themselves and the world around them." While containing a religious element in their official creed, JCI neither promotes nor engages in any religious activities. Active citizens are individuals invested in the future of our world.
We develop the skills, knowledge, and understanding to make informed decisions and take action. As globally minded young people, we all have rights, responsibilities, and shared goals. We find targeted solutions to local issues benefiting our communities, our world, and our future. Embracing new ideas, collaboration and diversity, we have the passion and courage to address the critical challenges of our times.
About JCI Kagayhaan Gold, Inc.
Armed with the training from the Philippine Junior Jaycees and the sponsorship of the Bai Lawanen Jaycees, Inc. (now Junior Chamber International Bai Lawanen), a group of young professionals and the so-called "old guards" of the Metro Cagayan de Oro Junior Jaycees, bonded together and formed an new Jaycee chapter in the city. The chapter needed a name. Of the different versions of the legendary meaning of the name Cagayan de Oro, the word "Kagayhaan" which means "enviable town" was the unanimous choice. The groups likes to think of the city where it belongs as enviable, literally because of the gold deposits found in the area and figuratively because of the "golden heart" and "golden friendship" of the people.
The chapter was chartered in April 16, 1988. The club was build around projects here and there, attendance in Area and National Conventions, visitations to other Jaycee chapters and building linkages with private and government entities. But a more solid achievement was developing cohesiveness and strong commitment among the members, which is in itself are vital ingredients for a JCI chapter.
